The art style of Cubism originates with Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque taking the subject, reducing it to geometric shapes, repeating it from many different views and sometimes adding collage. Collage comes from the French word 'gluing, to paste'. Collage is usually created with paper or materials.
My jazz artwork is a visual interpretation of rhythm, movement, and improvisation. I use a simplified Cubist approach to fragment musicians and instruments into geometric shapes, lines, and overlapping forms. Rather than depicting the musicians realistically, I rearrange the forms to capture the energy and spontaneity I hear in jazz. Color creates a visual rhythm that echoes the contrast between sound and silence. I am not trying to illustrate the music; I am trying to make the music visible.
For that hard to decorate spot.
Can be hung on a wall or set up on a table.
